Benjamin Lloyd (M.S. in Ecological Design, B.A. in Architecture) crafts architecture, landscapes, and communities that are resilient, beautiful, and designed to meet the needs of the 21st century. His cross-disciplinary skillset is the product of a unique 10+ year pursuit studying how homes and habitats can improve our health and happiness. Along this pursuit, Benjamin has drawn on knowledge from a wide range of cultures, institutions, firms, design-build studios, workshops, research farms, and ecovillages, and the lessons have been clear: people seek spaces that are intuitive to build, operate, and navigate; function harmoniously with their environment; adapt gracefully to change; and inspire those who behold them.
He has worked in teams and organized collaboration amongst various stakeholders in public and private sectors. When he works independently, Benjamin manages his schedule to a high level of efficiency and consistently delivers high-quality material. His architecture is thoughtful and functional; dramatic and personal; innovative and enduring. Benjamin draws traditional practices like timber-framing, wattle-and-daub, natural plastering, thermal mass walls, and passive ventilation into contemporary realms. His landscapes are integrated and organic; spacious and abundant; intimate and wholly-transformative. Throughout his work, Benjamin weaves water, plant, stone, and structure into an ecologically intuitive mosaic that immediately familiarizes people with place.
Benjamin is constantly looking for opportunities to collaborate, share, and expand on his craft, so please reach out!
